I first started using Adobe Photoshop version 2.0 in 1991. (Yes, I’m dating myself with that confession) Am I an expert? Not at all–even though I’m a Super User, I spend a lot of time watching tutorials on YouTube and learning from others far more skilled than I. Even if I already have my own method of getting from Point A to Point B, there is always someone else who can teach me another way. Graphic Artists are some of the most talented and generous people in the Virtual World.
I learned about AI Image Generators in 2024 when I stumbled upon Night Cafe, and at first I thought, “What is all this about?” so I created my first image using free sign-up credits. The rest, as they say, is history.

I’ve had so much fun with AI image generators, and have been experimenting, generating, and watching with fascination as they improve and expand ever since. I consider myself a 50/50 user; I use them for art and fun only. I do not like all the fake videos flooding social media, and I do not condone the use of AI to create lies. But do I think AI is evil? Absolutely not. The applications I use are software programs that build images using algorithms, I do not believe they are cognizant sinister intellects plotting to take over the world.
As a published author since 2008 myself, specifically as an “indie” author since 2012, I have a unique insight into the publishing industry and the self-publishing platforms that other book cover artists don’t.
